Cat Staring

Why does my cat stare at walls?

Ever caught your cat sitting perfectly still, eyes locked on a blank wall? It’s easy to think they’re seeing ghosts – and maybe they are, in their own way.

Cats have incredibly sensitive hearing and vision. They can detect the faintest sounds, like a mouse behind plasterboard or a small bug crawling out of sight. Sometimes, they’re simply in a trance-like state, daydreaming or zoning out. A wall just happens to be where their gaze lands.

If it’s happening often and obsessively, though, it’s worth ruling out medical causes like feline cognitive dysfunction or even vision issues. But most of the time? Just another quirky moment from your curious little shadow.
